There are a number of coaches heading into the 2017 season who need to have good seasons. Some maybe need a great season to keep their jobs. Here are some coaches who need turnaround seasons in 2017.
Hugh Freeze (Ole Miss) Freeze is 39-35 in five seasons but the program is under an NCAA cloud and sanctions are coming.
Kliff Kingsbury (Texas Tech) Kingsbury is just 9-23 in Big 12 play and his team's defense is embarrassing.
Dave Doeren (North Carolina State) Doeren is 25-26 in four seasons and the faithful are getting restless.
Jim Mora (UCLA) Mora is 12-13 overall and 7-11 in conference play the past two years. He does have a $12 million buyout though.
Rick Rodriguez (Arizona) Rods only won 3 games last year and needs a turnaround season badly.
Brian Kelly (Notre Dame) Kelly is 59-31 overall but ND will not tolerate another four win season.

OK, what about Utah State's Matt Wells? After going 19-9 in his first two seasons the record has dropped to 9-16 the last two seasons. Just guessing 2017 is a pivotal year.
Others close to the situation can shed more light on coach Wells.

Kevin Sumlin...The aggies are ready to run him out of town, especially with Texas on the rebound...anything less than 7-5 or 7-6 and he's gone...
Without Johnny Manziel, coach Sumlin seems a bit average and average won't cut it at a school like Texas A&M. The faithful are definitely getting restless.

UNLV coach Sanchez has got to be on the hot seat, eventually the high school crap will not fly just Division I program.
Michigan state must rebound.
Georgia Tech? Might get real ugly if they start 2–5
Sanchez is on no hot seat. Not at all. You couldn't be more wrong! He has assembled good college assistant coaches and current feel is positive. His contract has been extended to 2021 and he has the backing of the Fertitta family who donated 10 million towards a new practice facility. Sanchez has raised 17 mil of the 26 mil needed for this facility. And with Raiders move to Vegas the new stadium, set to be completed in 30 months, is going to be over the top! The Rebels will be playing there too. New facilities and a new stadium should really help with recruiting. Here's a youtube of the proposed stadium; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbOiOP4zD5s

Now Michigan State. All I know now is they have a quarterback in Brian Lewerke. After that there isn't much info coming out of East Lansing other than the sex mess!
Dantonio has his work cutout for him. Even the spring game had 15 players not dressed and no names on jerseys.
While I read the Michigan Wolverine blogs breaking down the O-line, the D-line, RB's, etc, I see little to nothing from the Spartans.
Now Dantonio is a master at putting a chip on the players shoulders and getting them motivated. This could play into his hands. Or, it could be the anchor that sinks the Spartans. Locker room chemistry is really important here and right now I don't have a clue. But I suspect Dantonio can turn this around, he's too damn good not too.

How about Todd Graham at Arizona State? Since winning the South division in 2013, his teams have won 6, 4, and 2 conference games respectively. Last season looked promising with a 5-1 start, but going 0-6 down the stretch was a really bad look. The prospects for this year aren't much better with most analysts picking them at or near the bottom of the Pac12 South. Looking at their schedule, it's not impossible to see them going 4-8 or even worse this year. He has not recruited that well and they have never really excelled in any phase of the game, with defense being the most egregious of their shortcomings. Things working in his favor are a mostly relaxed fanbase who seem to understand that the Sun Devils will never be world beaters. If they have a winning record this year I think he is safe, if they don't, then I think his seat gets awfully toasty. They probably can't attract a big name like Arizona did with RichRod, so I think they would be wise to take a flyer on a young up-and-comer.

Mich St was a playoff team less than two years ago, despite the beat down from Bama. He is one of the best coaches in the business. He is not all the hot seat. Now, if Mich St does not qualify for a bowl again in 2017, then maybe in 2018 he will be.

Whole town is buzzing!!
I agree Uniman. Sanchez winning 4 games in his second season is actually UNLV's second highest win total since 2009. If he can get any improvement on defense which gave up 37 ppg, the Rebs might have a shot at a bowl game. The offense has nine starters back including the quarterback. BUT, keep in mind the defense is a mess.
