Really dumb idea for baseball....Like the rule change for College football with each team getting the same chance to score....Pro football needs overtime changes/updates...Especially for Super Bowl with teams so evenly matched....
How about this idea for pro football.....
Win two out of three overtime skill contests to really determine the winner rather than whichever team wins the coin toss.
It's overtime...The rules..
Each team will start out kicking a field goal from the 35 yard line...If each kicker is good...next competition kick from the 45....then the 55 yard line...etc, etc ..If blocked...no good.....Team that wins this first event goes up 1-0
Next event is running the ball...Teams have to run the ball only, a must...Yes, defenses will gear 100% for a run...ADD up the yards gained for four consecutive runs for each team...Somebody wins this event with more yards gained..... A lost fumble would incur a minus -10 yard penalty....If the team that won the kicking event wins the running event the game is over...if it is tied at 1-1 we go to the next tiebreaker event...Passing proficiency...
Same format as running....Four offensive plays passing only for both teams...most yards gained wins this competition....An interception incurs a -10 yard penalty as well as holding, facemask, offsides or other penalties seen by the refs.
Whichever team wins two out of the three events is the over time game winner...
This format would be much more fair I think to determine the winner......Like Bill O'reilly says..."Where am I going wrong"?

Skills contest for NFL is not to my liking. The answer is sudden death, each team starting at the opponents 40 yard line, BUT; no coin flip, the visitor gets the ball first, they have earned it by neutralizing the home teams natural advantage. Force the home team to play for the win on last possession, not a tie and hope for a favorable coin flip. JMHO
Now and then even a BLIND squirrel can find an acorn
