Big profits could come from betting these NCAAF small-conference teams

Oct 11, 2017 |

The Sun Belt got things started for Week 7. Will the sloppy low-scoring affair be an indicator for what to expect the rest of the weekend?

Over the course of the season Covers Expert Zack Cimini will evaluate programs outside of the Power 5 conferences with potential value from a point spread perspective. Here are under the radar matchups to keep your eyes on this week.

Team to Watch - Wyoming Cowboys
This week:  +3 vs.  Utah State Aggies

Neither Utah State or Wyoming is where they want to be this season as both the leaders of the Mountain West. At the mid-point of the college football season both teams can only focus on the rest of the season and not what has occurred.

A momentum win can will give the winner a strong possibility of gaining traction for a representable bowl game in December.

Offensively both teams will be looking to lean on their talented experienced quarterbacks. Utah State boasts senior quarterback Kent Myers whom has been a four-year starter while Wyoming has a supreme talented quarterback in Josh Allen.

However, expect Allen to have an advantage here going up against an Aggies defense that ranks 83rd in total yards and 91st in poins allowed at 29.8 points per game.
Team to Beware - Hawaii Rainbow Warriors
This week: -17 vs. San Jose State Spartans

The bottom-tier of the Mountain West conference lies with familiar teams in San Jose State and Hawaii.

Arguably San Jose State's best performance came in Week 1 when they led for a considerable amount of time against a ranked team in South Florida. Aside from that first half San Jose State has been embarrassed in all phases. Each of their six losses has been by seventeen points or higher.

Being the last team to play on a weekly basis for home games, Hawaii is a matchup that nearly all bettors have assessed for action. After two covers to start the season, Hawaii has went 0-4 against the number.

Is Hawaii being over valued or is San Jose State that poor? Expect high night cap tilt action on this one.

Total team - Tulsa Golden Hurricane
This Week: O/U 66 vs. Houston Cougars
An odd total lies in the American conference of sixty-six between Tulsa and Houston.

On the season in five games Houston has yet to play in a game where the score has eclipsed higher than fifty-seven. That means oddsmakers are severely downgrading a Tulsa team that is 1-5.

This in large part has to due with the fact that Tulsa allowed sixty-two points a week ago to Tulane.

Overall on the season their defense ranks 129th of 130 defenses in total yards allowed per game and 126th in the country in allowing forty-four points per game.
