NHL scoring down, unders cashing in as playoffs loom

Apr 2, 2013 |
If you've been watching the NHL lately, you may have noticed it's starting to look more like playoff hockey, which often means tougher defense.

Over the past four days, the under has cashed in at a rate of 17-7-4 and an average of 4.8 goals were scored in those games. That's down considerably from the NHL season average of 5.4 goals per game.

The over/under record this season is 228-258-50, with the over cashing in at a rate of just over 52 percent heading into Wednesday's schedule.

With the goals drying up, there are some significant under streaks in the NHL right now. Here are the most notable ones:

Pittsburgh 10-0-1
Carolina 8-2-1
Vancouver 7-0-2
Winnipeg 6-3
Florida 6-1-1
