McIlroy running away with FedEx Cup odds

Sep 10, 2012 |
Rory McIlroy has a firm grasp on the FedEx Cup following his second straight playoff win. With 3,232 points separating him from Tiger Woods, he’s the odds-on favorite heading into the season-ending event in Atlanta next week. The 23-year-old Irishman has won three of his last four tournaments, scoring a combined 53-under par.

Woods moved from third to second in the standings after finishing in a tie for fourth at the BMW Championship on Sunday, while Nick Watney, Phil Mickelson and Brandt Snedeker round out the top-five.

McIlroy has already won more than $7 million this year and could push that total closer to $20 million with a win at East Lake, where the points leader will earn a $10-million bonus.
