Bettor wins $15K on worst upset of Nadal's career

One lucky bettor is smiling after watching the worst upset of Rafael Nadal's career Monday on the first day of Wimbledon.

The reigning French Open champion was set as a -10,000 favorite at many books heading into his Round 1 match where world No. 113 Steve Darcis of Belgium knocked him off in straight sets (7-6, 7-6. 6-4). Darcis was as high as +4,500 at 5Dimes and +2,500 to +3,000 at others.

SportsInteraction Tweeted that Darcis was +6,500 to win in straight sets there.

It marks the first time Rafa has ever lost in the first round of a grand slam. Darcis fought off five of seven break points to pull off the improbable.

The loss also means futures tickets for anyone who had Nadal before Wimbledon began. He was paying around 4-1 at most books.
