Penguins open as favorites to win third straight Stanley Cup as 2017-18 odds released

Jun 14, 2017 |

The Pittsburgh Penguins took down Cinderella, with a very entertaining Game 6 win over the Predators in Nashville, and claimed their second consecutive Stanley Cup to close out the 2016-17 season.

Before the beer was even being poured into Lord Stanley's mug, the Westgate LV Superbook in Las Vegas already had their futures odds to win the 2017-18 championship on their betting board.

The Pittsburgh Penguins opened as 8/1 favorites to claim their elusive third straight Stanley Cup title. No National Hockey League team has won three consecutive championships since the New York Islanders won four straight Cups from the 1979-80 to the 1982-83 seasons. This edition of the Penguins are actually the first repeat winner since the 1997-98 Detroit Red Wings won their second in a row.

Following closely behind the Pens on the odds board are a trio of contenders at 10/1: the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Washington Capitals, and the Edmonton Oilers.

The Vegas Golden Knights will join the league for this coming season and they own the longest odds to hoist the championship at 200/1.

Here are the odds to win the 2017-2018 Stanley Cup from Westgate LV Superbook:
