It's an all-AFC affair as the Miami Dolphins host the red-hot Cincinnati Bengals in Thursday Night Football. We talk to Michael Stewart, an oddsmaker with CarbonSports.ag, and Aron Black of Bet365 about the action coming in on this standalone game and where the odds could end up by kickoff:
Cincinnati Bengals at Miami Dolphins - Open: +2.5, Move: +3
Depending on the wagering outlet, this line opened anywhere from a Pick to Miami +3.5. According to Stewart, action quickly came in on the road fave once the line opened.
"We opened the Bengals as 2.5-point favorites and that number was quickly bet up to Bengals -3 (-105)," Stewart tells Covers. "We’re very reluctant to move off the 3 and go to 3.5 because 3 is such a live number in a game like this (with a low total, etc.), so we’re moving the juice."
The Bengals come into the matchup playing their best football of the season. They've won four-straight games and have posted a 3-1 ATS record over that stretch, including covering in back-to-back efforts. Playing such good football would be a primary reason why, according to Stewart, a whopping 80 percent of the action on the Bengals.
Aron Black confirms that action at his book is all on the AFC North leaders
"This line has looked on the weak side since release," says Black. "Miami is not giving too much reason to support them. Action so far is all Cincy against the spread."
As far as the total is concerned, the number opened as low as 42, with most shops currently dealing a 43 or a 43.5.
"We’ve seen mostly over action so far," Stewart confirms. "We went to 43 and eventually to 43.5 this morning. So far 75 percent of the action is on the over."
