The United States defeated Panama 1-0 in the final of the CONCACAF Gold Cup, capping an excellent tournament for the Stars and Stripes.
The squad played arguably its best football under head coach Jürgen Klinsmann during the tournament. They won all six of their matches and outscored their opponents 20-4 in doing so.
Despite the impressive performance, the Americans are +12500 odds to win World Cup 2014. Mexico, who exited the Gold Cup early following a 2-1 defeat to Panama in the semifinal, are currently +4000.
The United States will resume its World Cup Qualifying campaign with matches in September against Costa Rica and Mexico.
To date, Brazil, Japan, Australia, Iran and South Korea are the only teams to have qualified for the 2014 Cup.
Brazil still leads the way and are +350 to win soccer's biggest prize on home soil.
