It’s October, and that means less than a month until the NBA tips off its 2012-13 campaign. Most sportsbooks have already released odds for the opening-night tripleheader on October 30. Let’s take a look at who’s favored in the three matchups:

Boston Celtics at Miami Heat (-7, 184.5)

LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and the Heat will raise their title banner at home against the Boston Celtics. It will also be the debut of Ray Allen in a Miami uniform, and ironically, his first game is against his former club, the Celtics. Remember, this contest is a rematch of last season’s seven-game Eastern Conference Finals.

Dallas Mavericks at Los Angeles Lakers (-8, 191.5)

Dwight Howard and Steve Nash will make their much anticipated debuts with the Lakers when they welcome the Mavericks opening night. Oddsmakers have set the Lakers as favorites in the opener and are respecting their talent-loaded roster by placing them right behind the Heat (+333) in NBA Championship futures’ odds.

Washington Wizards at Cleveland Cavaliers (-4, 194)

Probably the least anticipated game of the three, but this contest will actually kickoff the 2012-13 season at 7 p.m. ET. Wizards PG John Wall suffered a knee injury in late September and is projected to miss 6-8 weeks of action, including the season opener. Wall has averaged 16.3 points, 8.2 assists and 4.6 rebounds in his first two seasons in Washington.
