William Hill US re-released their futures odds to win the 2017 NCAA Men's National Championship less than an hour after the selection show went off the air with the North Carolina Tar Heels pegged as the favorites at 13/2. They are followed very close behind by the defending champion Villanova Wildcats at 7/1 and a gaggle of teams listed at 15/2 (Kansas Jayhawks, Gonzaga Bulldogs, Kentucky Wildcats, Arizona Wildcats, and Duke Blue Devils).
Potential "Cinderella" teams are always a major topic of conversation around the office water cooler leading up to the tournament. If you're looking for long odds to win the event, look no further than the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers who are the biggest long shot on the board at 2,500/1.
A major talking point coming out of "Selection Sunday" was the South Region matchup featuring the No. 7 seeded Dayton Flyers and the surprisingly low seeded No. 10 Wichita State Shockers (currently listed as six-point favorites for Friday's game). It's worth noting that Wichita State is listed at 75/1 to win the entire event while the higher seeded Flyers are 150/1.
