Toronto Blue Jays right-handed pitcher Josh Johnson has been scratched from his scheduled start Friday against the New York Yankees with triceps tightness.

Left-handed pitcher Aaron Laffey, who was picked up off waivers by Toronto earlier this week, will get a spot start in Johnson’s stead.

Laffey spent the 2012 campaign with the Blue Jays. He compiled a 4-6 record and 4.56 ERA in 22 games, 16 of them starts. Laffey hasn’t pitched well against New York, posting a career 9.95 ERA against the Bronx Bombers.

The Yankees will counter with Ivan Nova. The righty surrendered four earned runs on seven hits over five innings in his last start Sunday versus Toronto.

New York opened as a -112 favorite at the LVH SuperBook and the line has moved to Yankees -134 since Johnson was scratched.
