Winter weather moves spread, total for Ravens-Broncos

As the temperature drops in Denver, so does the total for the Ravens-Broncos AFC Divisional Round playoff game.

The forecast for Sports Authority Field at Mile High is calling for temperatures in the low teens, dipping into single digits, and a chance of snow, forcing NFL bettors to side with the under. The number was as high as 46.5 early this morning before money on the under drove the total down as low as 44 points.

“It’s going to be very, very cold and a forecast of snow, which could be worse than currently forecast, so it’s a move mainly to protect against possible bad weather,” Aron Black of Bet365.com told Covers.

The total isn’t the only number on the move. Some books have taken late action on Baltimore, moving the Ravens from +9.5 to as low as +8.5.

“Heavier snow also coincides with the move to Baltimore,” says Black. “Less points with a big spread moves to the dog. We could see more of a run game from both which would indicate possible lower scoring.”

Black says if the forecast isn’t as bad as expected by the time the 4:30 p.m. ET kickoff rolls around, bettors could come back on the over and move the number back up to 44.5.
