It’s not just David Stern rooting against the San Antonio Spurs and pulling for the Miami Heat. Las Vegas sportsbooks would prefer to see Gregg Popovich’s crew bounced from the postseason and LeBron James crowned in the Finals.

Oddsmakers at the Las Vegas Hotel and Casino (LVH) calculated the Spurs as -165 favorites in the Western Conference finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder. But the LVH, according to oddsmaker Jeff Sherman, installed San Antonio as -175 chalk because of the liability the SuperBook has on the Spurs.

The LVH, like many sportsbooks, took sharp action on the Spurs to win the NBA championship at 30/1 and 25/1 back in January. San Antonio is the favorite to win the title at 9/5 (+180).

The Thunder are +155 underdogs against the Spurs in the West finals and 5-point underdogs in Game 1 on Sunday.

Miami, on the other hand, is a good outcome for Vegas. While books have seen a fair share of Heat bets to win the title, their odds have never been long. Miami opened as the odds-on favorite to win the championship and was never priced higher than +200 (2/1).
