Montreal Alouettes at Hamilton Tiger Cats (-2, 59.5)

The Montreal Alouettes enter Week 4 of the CFL season as the only team with a winning record in the East at 2-1. That has translated into a 1-2 record against the spread and they are 2-point underdogs in Hamilton this week.

Montreal needed a late interception and an Offensive Player of the Week performance from quarterback Anthony Calvillo to pull out a win over Calgary last week. The near-loss should be enough to scare Als bettors a little, especially considering Montreal’s offensive line play.

The Als managed just five yards rushing against Calgary and Calvillo was sacked four times. That might not matter against a Hamilton defense that’s giving up a CFL-worst 36 points per game.

Montreal’s defense hasn’t been spectacular either and the Als have given up at least 30 points in every game so far. That’s helped two of the Als’ three games play over the posted total, while all three of Hamilton’s games have played over. Put that together and you have the highest total of the CFL season so far at 59.5 points.

Hamilton has covered the number in its past two games, including a 36-27 win over the Argos last week as a 3.5-point home favorite. The Tiger Cats are 1-1 at home so far while Montreal lost its lone road game in Calgary to open the season.
