Manny Pacquiao opened as a -600 favorite for his bout with Brandon Rios (+400) at the Venetian Macao Resort Hotel in Macao, China on November 23.
Pacquiao (54-5-2) is coming off back-to-back losses. He dropped a split decision and his WBO Welterweight title to Timothy Bradley last June and was knocked out in the sixth round by Juan Manuel Márquez this past December. Pacquiao was a -450 and -270 favorite respectively in those bouts.
Rios (31-1-1) is also coming off a loss, falling via unanimous decision in his rematch with Mike Alvarado in March. The 23 year old known as “Bam Bam” has scored 23 of his wins by way of KO and will test Pacquiao’s aging chin. However, this is a huge step up in class for Rios.
The last time Pacquiao climbed into the ring off a knockout loss was 1999, following a third-round KO defeat versus Medgoen Singsurat. He rebounded with a KO victory of his own over Medgoen Singsurat in December 1999.
